Millions of households have pets, but  6-8 million dogs and cats are abandoned to die on the streets or given up to shelters where  3 to 4 million are euthanized each year.  Every cat or dog that dies as a result of pet overpopulation is an animal who might have made a wonderful companion, if given the chance. The first step to the solution is spaying and neutering our pets.
